A rise in temperatures coincides with a change in colours, textures, and silhouettes, but what about patterns? We know that with spring comes nautical styles and an abundance of blue and white stripes. And do we even need to quote Meryl Streep from The Devil Wears Prada about florals for spring? These particular patterns seem to come back tirelessly each season in full force. This season we’ve noticed a rise in gingham; here at Lordon we certainly think of gingham as a classic textile–one that brings to mind fashion icons such as Katherine Hepburn (here) (and here) and Marilyn Munroe (here)– but it’s not one that we have seen much of recently until spring 2018. Yet there is something so classic and youthful about this print that we just can’t seem to get enough of.
